I'm a junior at Coupeville High School with a lifelong connection to the sea. Growing up on Whidbey Island, the water was never far — and neither was the pull to understand exactly how boats work, how they're built, and what makes them perform.
I've raced FJ dinghies competitively with the Oak Harbor Youth Sailing race team, coached the next generation of sailors at summer sailing camp, and spent this year at the Port Townsend Maritime Academy — one of Washington State's most rigorous hands-on maritime programs — where I've helped build a wooden boat from the keel up, maintained outboard engines, studied navigation, and trained in large vessel operations.
My goal is to pursue a degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, and build a career designing the vessels that define life in the Pacific Northwest. I bring real hands-on experience, a genuine love of the craft, and the drive to keep learning from the people who build these boats for a living.

A full-year, hands-on maritime program at the Northwest Maritime Center. Completed certified competencies in navigation, sea safety, outboard maintenance, rigging, woodshop, and wooden boat construction. Currently completing large vessel operations and a capstone design challenge.
Supported instruction for youth sailors at summer camp. Helped beginners build foundational boat handling skills, safety awareness, and confidence on the water — drawing on my own competitive racing background to connect with younger sailors.
Raced Flying Junior (FJ) dinghies as part of the Oak Harbor Youth Sailing competitive race team. Developed race strategy, crew communication, boat trim, and the ability to perform in variable Pacific Northwest conditions.
The following competencies were completed and certified at the Port Townsend Maritime Academy, 2025–2026.

Where I’m headed and what I’m looking for.
“I want to design vessels that people trust their lives to — boats built for the waters of the Pacific Northwest, and eventually beyond. I’m looking for opportunities to work alongside craftspeople who build them.”
